Yuzvendra Chahal’s t-shirt caught everyone’s attention during his divorce hearing with Dhanashree Verma in Bandra. He wore a shirt that said, “Be your Own Sugar Daddy,” and it went viral online.

On 20 March 2025, a family court in Mumbai officially granted Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma divorce. The court was told to finish the divorce quickly so Chahal could focus on playing in the 2025 IPL.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma Divorce Confirmed:

On Thursday, a family court in Mumbai finalized the divorce between cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma.

Both Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma attended the hearing at the Bandra Family Court. The divorce was granted because they jointly filed a petition, meaning they both agreed to end their marriage. According to Chahal’s lawyer, Nitin Gupta, the court approved their request for a divorce by mutual consent.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s T-Shirt Viral:

Yuzvendra Chahal’s t-shirt is the talking point of a new video. The words “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” are printed on it, and some believe it’s a pointed remark toward Dhanashree.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma officially started the divorce process on February 5th by filing a joint petition at the family court. This means they both agreed they wanted a divorce. Then, on Wednesday, the Bombay High Court told the family court to make a decision by Thursday. The reason for the rush was that Yuzvendra Chahal’s schedule was about to get very busy. He’s playing in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament, so he wouldn’t have been available to attend court later.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket tournament begins on March 22nd, and Yuzvendra Chahal plays for the Punjab Kings team. To make sure the divorce was finalized before the tournament started, the Bombay High Court made a special decision on Wednesday. Normally, when a couple files for divorce under the Hindu Marriage Act, there’s a six-month “cooling-off” period. This is a time for them to reconsider.

However, the High Court waived this period for Chahal and Dhanashree Verma. They had both asked the court to skip this waiting period because they were getting divorced by mutual agreement. Their lawyer, Nitin Gupta, also requested that the family court make a quick decision. The couple had actually tried to skip the cooling-off period before, but the family court had said no on February 20th. So, they appealed that decision to the High Court, and the High Court agreed to waive the cooling off period.

After Divorce, Can Chahal Focus on IPL Success?

Yuzvendra Chahal is now focused on performing at his best for the Punjab Kings in the 2025 IPL season. The team’s first game is on March 25th (Tuesday) against the Gujarat Titans, and it’s an away match. As the IPL’s all-time leading wicket-taker, Chahal is under pressure to prove his value. Punjab Kings paid a significant amount, 18 crore rupees, to acquire him after his successful 3 year period with the Rajasthan Royals. He’ll be aiming to deliver strong performances and justify that investment.
